After the tremendously successful event in September, Corbel and six other organisations that support SportsAid with the Ipswich Sporting Club Lunch are pleased to announce that the next event will be held on 24th February 2017. The event will once again be held at Wherstead Park and promises to be more popular than ever before, including a guest appearance and engaging talk from British skier Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards.
This Lunch will follow the popular format of an introductory speech and update before a two-course lunch, followed by a talk from Eddie Edwards leading into the Charity Raffle and ending with corporate networking opportunites at the end of the session.
The Ipswich Sporting Club was founded in January 2015. Supported by seven organisations in the Ipswich area, the Club plans to host two lunches per year. The money raised through the lunches supports SportsAid (the National Charity for Sport), who working with the governing bodies of 75 sporting disciplines, support over 2,000 talented young sports people each year. SportsAid ensures the right people get the right help at the right time. Every penny raised in Suffolk stays in Suffolk to support talented young sportsmen and women from Suffolk.
Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards is a British skier who in 1988 became a universal celebrity after becoming the first competitor since 1929 to represent Great Britain in Olympic ski jumping. He was already the British ski jumping record holder, ranked 9th in the world for amateur speed skiing and also held a stunt jumping world record after jumping six buses. Eddie Edwards finished last in both the 70m and 90m Olympic events and became a national sporting legend in the process. In 2016, the film “Eddie The Eagle” chronicled Eddie’s life story and his Olympic journey.
