Company News

On Tuesday 8th of November 2022, Corbel held our very own Open Morning as a celebration of moving into our brand-new head office just before the national lockdown in 2020. It was great to finally open the doors and welcome both existing customers, as well as new faces to the office and come together in person for a morning of conversations, presentations, and demos.

Suffolk Businesses

At Corbel, we are dedicated to recognising Suffolk as an area of thriving and growing businesses and we are keen to provide high levels of Business IT Support and services to reflect this. The East of England has a history of innovation and is attracting international attention from big companies like Amazon and Microsoft, building major presences. Whilst it is a geographically wide area, the tech talent and entrepreneurial skill is distributed and companies within the East of England are increasingly successful at engaging with investors in China, India, US and beyond. A major factor that has contributed to the success of the region is the support available to tech companies with particular specialisms. We recognise just how important it is to provide local businesses in Suffolk with the very latest technologies. Our team of IT experts are committed to providing effective and long-lasting solutions, covering cyber security, automation, and office 365 support and more to streamline and better businesses processes and operations.

What Went on Throughout the Morning

Throughout the morning, we had a series of workshops, demos and discussions going on. We had an appearance from Datto, who popped in to give a live demonstration on backup, recovery, and business continuity. As a part of the demonstration, one the attendees used a hammer to smash up a server! Datto then displayed how they can quickly recover this data to get business back up and running as normal in the case of a disaster. The session was highly engaging and informative, and it gave attendees a real chance to learn more about the importance of implementing the correct backup solutions.

Alongside this, we had Sarah from Bright and Well Yoga who brought her wisdom on workplace wellness and shared it with our team and the attendees. Sarah gave the Corbel Team a quick session before the open morning began and shared some simple breathing exercises and movements that we can do to help reduce stress at work and set us up for a better day. It was great to see the whole team getting involved and taking a minute out of their day to learn about the small changes they can make to better their wellbeing at work, as Corbel is aware just how important it is to prioritise wellbeing at work. 15 million sick days were lost last year in the UK due to stress, anxiety and depression and so taking care of our mental health is key to improving this. Throughout the morning, Sarah had some meaningful conversations with attendees about their wellbeing at work and how prioritising their mental wellbeing can help improve their days and mental headspace.

There was also two presentations throughout the morning from our very own Hannah Underdown, Senior Account Manager on Cyber Security and Tim Goddard, Director on Automation. Hannah looked at just how much of an impact end-users can have on an organisations overall security and shared some shocking statistics, including that by implementing some end-user training that security related risks can reduce by 70% for a company. Hannah said it was “great to have some discussions with new and existing faces about just how much End-User Training can make a difference in Cyber Security and there were some great questions asked by the attendees.” Then we had Tim’s presentation on what Automation has looked like for the past few years and what the future may hold. With some great discussions afterwards, both presentations provided much value to attendees.

Our Thoughts

People are at the heart of everything we do at Corbel, and it was so lovely to hold this event and welcome everyone into our office and see all these local Suffolk businesses come together. The Corbel Team had a wonderful morning, and we hope all attendees had a great morning as well. Not only was there so much fantastic chat around IT, but there was also much admiration for the truly delicious cakes – another incredible local business, Kitty Bakes. We can’t stop thinking about those Biscoff brownies!

“It was a great idea and very well done, it should definitely be an annual event!”
