Company News

The Corbel Team have a had a very busy 6 months with Customer Strategic Reviews, SharePoint Migrations completed and various IT Projects – continuing to work with a range of existing clients and welcoming new ones on board. This year we’ve launched a new initiative where each month a member of the Corbel team has a budget £100 and the challenge of organising a team social for the rest of the team to get involved with…

We wanted to make it our priority to come together as a team outside of work more often and have some fun and this initiative felt the perfect way to do this! Coming together outside of the work is just one of the ways we prioritise wellbeing at Corbel and it’s been great to see all of the team getting so involved with the idea. We’ve had a varied range of team socials organised so far from a Corbel quiz night all the way through to a Soap Box racing competition – read more below…

Here at Corbel, we prioritise nurturing our team and really value the importance of team building. From Apprentices who have come straight from school, to Aaron our Technical Manager who recently celebrated 25 years at Corbel, we embody a true culture of teamwork. Investing in team building, Corbel ensures that our team are not only technically skilled but also capable of working seamlessly together, building trust, and embodying a supportive work culture. This is what ultimately allows to establish long-lasting relationships with our clients based on trust and collaboration.

So sit back & have a read of what the Corbel team have been up to…

Challenge One – Cake Decorating Competition

To kick things off at the start of the year, our very own Hannah organised a team social and put her own fun twist on a cupcake competition and put the teams decorating skills to the ultimate test!

The team were split into small groups and each group were allocated some plain cupcakes and a selection of cake decorations to use. Each member of the group had a cupcake and for each round Hannah announced a member of Corbel team and the teams had to decorate their cupcakes to resemble that person as best they could. The team then had to decide which out of their group had the best design and the winner was decided on which decorated cupcake resembled the person most!

It was a close draw, but out on top came Karen, Arran and Cameron – watch out Mary Berry, Team Corbel are coming for you!

Challenge Two – Corbel Quiz Night

Next up we had Adam organise his team social and put a fun twist on a quiz night! The team were split up into small teams and had to work together to get as many right answers as they could – and of course we had all the snacks & drinks!

From Corbel team-member related questions to general knowledge and movies & music, there was something for everyone! But it was the teamwork of team 3 which led to Florin, Jack and Arran coming out on top.

Challenge Three – Soap Box Racing

Then we had the lovely Louise organise her team social of a soap box racing competition. The team was split into small groups and similar to the very famous Red Bull Soap Box Race joined forces to create a mini soap box dragster to race down a track!

The rules of the challenge were simple, teams were given 2 minutes design time, then each team had 5 minutes at 3 different stations all with varying craft supplies that would be useful in creating a prize-winning dragster – and the dragster must reach the finish line in order to qualify.

The teams were then awarded based on the three criteria of design, speed and durability – and out on top we had the lovely Caitlin, Rhys and Hannah!

Challenge Four – Axe Throwing

To round things off for the first half of the year, we had our very own Jack who organised an axe throwing competition at Boom Battle Bar!

It was a tough competition with various axe throwing and darts rounds but out on top came Aaron – what a fun evening!

It’s been so great for the team to come together outside of work more regularly and we’ve had plenty of fun and laughs along the way. We are excited to see what the next half of the year holds and what the team get up to next!
