We have recently welcomed Chris to the Corbel team as our new Client Relationship Consultant.
In this blog, we had a chat with Chris about his journey into the IT world, the lessons he’s learned so far at Corbel, and his goals for the next six months.
We also got to know a bit more about Chris personally and what drives him in his career. Stay tuned to find out more about Chris and his plans for the future with us!
The people, without a doubt. Since day one I’ve been made to feel so welcome and part of the team. Everyone’s incredibly friendly and it’s easy to see why our customers rave about our customer service with people like this behind the scenes!
How much there is to learn about IT! I thought I was (relatively) tech-savvy before joining the team, but I didn’t realise quite the levels of infrastructure behind each business just to keep it operational, it’s actually mind-blowing! As a bit of a geek I also find it really interesting, even if I am still getting to grips with all of the technical sides of things.
Secondly, never be afraid to ask questions; there’s no such thing as a silly question! There’s so much to learn in the world of IT and I have the benefit of having some amazingly knowledgeable colleagues who are more than happy to quickly run through something with me.
Lastly, if the Orwell Bridge is closed, forget about getting home…
My main goals for the next 6 months in this role are:
-Pass probation (fingers crossed!!)
-Continue to get to know my portfolio of customers and understand how their IT aligns with their plans for 2025 and beyond
-Grow and develop my IT knowledge and find an area I want to focus on as specialism – at the moment I have really been enjoying Cyber Security
-Attend more networking events and exhibitions
-Build up the snack drawer. Snacks are very important…
Well, I have an MA in Commercial Music, so I do still dabble a little bit with music! Mainly producing and DJ-ing House and UK Garage, but occasionally getting the guitar out and playing an open mic night every so often.
I’ve also been volunteering as a Scout Leader for a few years now, so I love all things outdoors – hiking, camping, survival-skills; all that jazz!
Other than that, I like to go to the gym, play stupidly nerdy video games and continue being a long-suffering West Ham fan. It’s not easy, but someone’s gotta do it…
That’s tricky! I’d have to say:
-Paolo Di Canio – West Ham legend. Enough said.
-Sir David Attenborough – the stories he’d tell!
-DJ EZ – a UK Garage DJ pioneer and would 100% be asking for a masterclass
Chris has had a fantastic start at Corbel. With clear goals in place and a passion for both IT and customer relationships, he is well-positioned to make a significant impact to the Corbel team. We look forward to his continued growth and the valuable contributions.
