Corbel welcomes new Kickstart recruits!

The Corbel Blog

We have been delighted to welcome two new work placements to Corbel as part of the Government Kickstart scheme. As a strong advocate of supporting our local community, the chance to offer an opportunity to a young person in our local area was incredibly important to us. During the Covid-19 pandemic youth unemployment has increased by 133% in the East of England, with 1 in 10 young people in some areas of Suffolk claiming unemployment benefits as a result of lockdown.

We know that young people are the future, and their skills and zest for Technology already makes them so valuable to our industry.

We are thrilled to welcome James Reed and Shannon Garwood to Team Corbel.

Having always been interested in Computing and enjoying gaming in his spare time, James studied Software Engineering at the University of Salford. His confidence and passion for the Technology sector took a dent when he graduated during the pandemic to very few positions available and was overjoyed to find a role at Corbel as part of the Kickstart scheme. James joins us as a Trainee Helpdesk Engineer and already has put his skillset to extremely good use getting to grips with all the technologies our Clients use and gaining excellent feedback.

Shannon joins us as an Administration Assistant having tried a number of different sectors previously. Already she feels like she has learnt so much, relishing the support available with being part of the team in a friendly, supportive office and feeling confident enough to ask for help has meant she has been able to tackle various roles across the whole department gaining a variety of skills, and subsequently proving herself invaluable to Team Corbel.
